Dr Shaw has
long been
one of the
premier
ophthalmologists
in the North
Valley. He
served as an
Assistant
Clinical
Professor of
Emergency
Trauma at LA
County
Hospital
through a
combined
program at
UCLA and
USC. Dr.
Shaw also
practiced as
a consulting
ophthalmologist
for the Army
at the 143rd
Evacuation
Hospital. He
was the
assistant
chief of
ophthalmology
at the
University
of
California,
Irvine as
well as
chief of the
division of
Ocular
Pathology.
He returned
home to
Chico in
1978 and has
cared for
tens of
thousands of
patients
both
clinically
and
surgically.
He was
instrumental
in driving
the
development
of advanced
eye care in
the North
Valley, and
was one of
the first
physicians
to perform
advanced
phacoemulisification
cataract
surgery. A
true general
ophthalmologist,
Dr. Shaw has
preformed
all aspects
of eye
surgery
including
retinal
detachments,
glaucoma
procedures,
cosmetic and
reconstructive
oculoplastic
surgery and
pediatric
care.
